As a Supervising Attorney in the Immigration Department, Prathiba (she/her) works directly with clients to conduct intakes and assess eligibility for humanitarian immigration relief related to gender-based violence. This includes providing support for clients seeking VAWA Self-Petitions, U visas, T visas, and other related forms of relief. She also collaborates with pro bono attorneys and partner firms by mentoring cases, reviewing applications, and providing legal guidance to support effective representation.

Additionally, she helps develop and enhance training materials for our pro-bono partners to facilitate their ability to represent clients successfully. Her work underscores Her Justice’s mission to support women living in poverty by recruiting and mentoring volunteer lawyers to provide free legal help to address individual and systemic legal barriers.

Prior to joining the Her Justice team, she worked at My Sisters’ Place and the Empire Justice Center where she also focused on providing humanitarian immigration legal services. Her career has been informed by the foundational motto of her law school, which is to provide “law in the service of human needs.”

Prathiba graduated with a JD from the City University of New York Law School and a MA from St. John’s University.
