Privacy policy

Her Justice Inc. (“Her Justice”) places a premium on the protection of personally identifiable information (“PII”) that you provide to us. Her Justice has created this Privacy Policy in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy applies to any PII you supply to Her Justice through the www.herjustice.org website (the “Site”).

1. The type of PII we collect
Her Justice may collect your name, e-mail address and other PII if you voluntarily submit such information by filling out a web form or sending us an email through our Site.

2. How we use your information
If you have requested that we contact you, the PII you provide to Her Justice through the Site may be used to contact you with information in response to your request, including information regarding, (i) training and service opportunities for volunteers; (ii) basic information regarding resources, referrals and eligibility information for those requiring assistance; (iii) ways contributors can assist Her Justice with financial resources; or (iii) other information responsive to your request. Her Justice will not use your PII to contact you unless you have requested that we do so.

We do not collect PII about you when you visit our Site, unless you choose to provide such information to us. Providing such information is strictly voluntary. This policy is your guide to how we will handle information we learn about you from your visit to our Site.

    • Online profile updates and donations
If you share your PII, this information will be used only to provide you with content. We may use your contact information to send further information about our organization or to contact you when necessary. You may always opt-out of receiving future mailings; see the “Opt Out” section below.
    • Employment or volunteer applications
We collect personal information from individuals who apply to us for employment or volunteer opportunities. Such information includes but is not limited to any information provided in a resume, information on education and employment history, desired salary scale, working permits, and any other information relevant to the respective application types. Any personal information obtained by us during the application process may be retained by us for purposes of considering the applicant for employment, availability and suitability of volunteer opportunities, as well as for management and research purposes.
    • Opt-out or change your contact information
Our Site provides members who join our Online Community the opportunity to opt-out of receiving communications.  They have the option of unsubscribing via the email received.  Members may also update their contact information previously provided to us by replying to an email received from us. As a member of our Online Community, you cannot remove yourself from our database, but you can prevent unwanted communications from our organization.
    • User statistics
Her Justice may aggregate user statistics (for example, “90% of our users are female”) and disclose such aggregated user statistics to prospective donors, volunteers and other third parties in order to describe the services provided by Her Justice, and for other lawful purposes. Your identity will not be disclosed by these aggregated user statistics.
    • Children
Her Justice does not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13. We encourage parents and legal guardians to monitor their children’s Internet usage and to help enforce our Privacy Policy by instructing their children to never provide information on this Site.
    • Sharing
We will not use, disclose, share, sell, trade, rent or lease your PII to any third party, unless approved by you, or in order to investigate, prevent or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violation of the Site’s Terms of Use or as otherwise required by law. The law requires that we may have to share your PII and other information pursuant to judicial or governmental subpoenas, warrants or orders. If we are required to do so, we will, of course, obey the law. If Her Justice should merge with another entity, we may share your PII with such party. We will not use or disclose your PII other than for the purposes described herein without first obtaining your consent for such use or disclosure. We will not send you mailings on behalf of other organizations.

Blackbaud’s payment processor is PCI compliant which ensures that your information is being handled in accordance with industry security standards. They have added stringent Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) and Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA DSS).  Blackbaud has also implemented additional payment security measures — such as fraud mitigation tools — that ensure your credit card information is, and remains, safe.

In an effort to prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of PII, we have also put in place appropriate internal physical, electronic and administrative procedures to safeguard and secure your information. Access to your PII is restricted: only authorized employees of Her Justice who need the information to perform a specific job or task, and, where necessary, authorized third parties that maintain physical, electronic and administrative controls to safeguard PII, are granted access. Our employees are aware of the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of your PII. In addition, the servers on which we store your PII are kept in a reasonably secure environment. Please note that, although we strive to protect your PII from unauthorized disclosure, Her Justice cannot guarantee or warrant that your PII will never be disclosed in a manner inconsistent with this Privacy Policy.
