Who We Serve
The clients and communities that Her Justice serves
Helping New Yorkers take the next step
Her Justice clients are survivors, immigrants, mothers, and workers from every borough of New York City. They’re taking the next step toward safety for themselves and their families—and they need legal help to get there.
They may be seeking safety from abuse, child support to make ends meet, work authorization to support their family, or a fair outcome in divorce court — but they’re all working toward the same thing: a safer, freer future.
Who are Her Justice clients?
Her Justice clients are women and gender diverse people living in poverty in New York City who have legal needs in the areas of family, divorce, coerced debt, and immigration law.
We provide critical free legal services to those who couldn’t otherwise afford it — and who rely on the civil justice system to access basic rights like financial autonomy and freedom from abuse.

Whether it’s Mary, in the Bronx, who was recently laid off from her job. Her child’s father, who remains employed, has stopped paying the child support he owes.
Grace, in Brooklyn, is pursuing divorce while trying to untangle years’ worth of debt her abusive husband took out in her name without her consent.
Or Natalia, in Queens, a survivor of labor trafficking seeking the right to work legally so that she can build a life for herself, free from exploitation and on her own terms.
“I feel like I am in such a better place today. Her Justice gave me hope. They stood with me through all of it and made sure I reached the end.”
