Lex Korberg

Executive Director
,

As Executive Director of Her Justice, and throughout their career, Lex (they/them) has fought to create new possibilities for the people and communities they serve. They are a fierce believer that everyone should have autonomy over their own lives.

Lex leads Her Justice’s day-to-day work, collaborates with the organization’s many stakeholders to shape its future, and represents Her Justice throughout the five boroughs—building relationships with pro bono attorneys and law firm partners, and serving as the organization’s voice across New York’s legal, business, philanthropic, and civic communities.

Lex joined Her Justice in September 2024 after more than twelve years at the law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, where they served as a partner in the Litigation Department. They spent much of their career practicing constitutional law, litigating more than a dozen civil and human rights cases in courts across the country. Most notably, Lex has litigated multiple landmark cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, including representing Mississippi’s last abortion provider in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization; LGBTQ+ rights pioneer Edie Windsor in United States v. Windsor, which established federal recognition of same-sex marriage and opened the door to full marriage equality; and trans youth challenging Idaho’s criminal ban on gender-affirming care. In addition to their pro bono constitutional practice, they have successfully represented clients in high-stakes commercial disputes across a range of industries.

Lex was among the first out trans equity partners of a major law firm. Their honors include “Young Lawyer of the Year” from The American Lawyer, the New York State Bar Association’s “Outstanding Young Lawyer” award, Lawdragon’s “500 Leading Litigators in America,” and the Yale Law Women+ Alumni Achievement Award, whose past recipients include Hillary Rodham Clinton, Justice Sonia Sotomayor, and Stacey Abrams. Their work and writing have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The New Yorker, The National Law Journal, The American Lawyer, and Le Monde, among others. They speak regularly about gender justice, constitutional law, and the business case for doing good.
Across a career defined by both conviction and action, Lex has pushed from within to make entrenched systems better and has co-created communities where people feel seen, valued, and empowered to make a difference. They are a graduate of Yale Law School and Columbia University.
