As the Legal Assistant for both the Immigration Practice Group and the Family and Matrimonial Practice Group, Nicolas (he/they) supports attorneys, paralegals, and externs with a variety of legal administrative tasks. His work runs the gamut of initiating relationships with clients, assisting attorneys in building the framework for cases that will ultimately be placed with firms, and providing language services for non-English speaking clients. They have become a liaison between clients and attorneys, and as such, they ensure that clients are able to receive services in a language they understand, as well as have a trusting point-person to reach out to with questions and concerns. Their client-centered approach furthers Her Justice’s mission to provide accessible services to New Yorkers.

Prior to joining the Her Justice legal team, Nicolas built a strong foundation in legal work by spending two years as a housing law paralegal at the New York Legal Assistance Group. There, he worked closely with the Human Resources Administration and the Office of Civil Justice, providing language services at Queens Civil Court during intake days providing same day consultations and referrals, as well as advocating with the Human Resources Administration for clients seeking relief from their rental arrears.
