As the Director of Legal Programs at Her Justice, Susanna (she/her) oversees a team of attorneys and legal professionals in providing legal assistance to over 4,000 low-income women and children in New York City per year. The team works through a pro bono model to leverage the talent and resources of over 100 law firms in New York City by recruiting, training and mentoring pro bono attorneys to provide a range of legal services to clients in the areas of family law, matrimonial law and immigration law. Susanna also contributes to Her Justice’s policy and systems change advocacy and helps to coordinate and facilitate Her Justice’s community outreach engagements throughout New York City. In addition to her legal expertise, Susanna is experienced in providing trauma-informed and client-centered lawyering for survivors of gender-based violence, as the vast majority of clients served by Her Justice are survivors of intimate partner violence, trafficking and other forms of gender-based violence.

Susanna originally joined Her Justice in July 2008-2011 as a Staff Attorney, becoming the Director of the Immigration Practice until 2025. She is a co-founder of the NYC-based Restorative Justice Intimate Partner Violence Working Group, and Confluence, a collective of lawyers centering the experiences of survivors of gender-based violence. Starting fall 2026, she will serve as co-chair of the Public Interest Pro Bono Association (PIPBA), an association of pro bono professionals overseeing pro bono programs at nonprofit and public interest law organizations in the New York City metropolitan area.

She speaks Spanish and French and graduated with her bachelor’s degree from Mount Holyoke College and obtained her J.D. from the City University of New York (CUNY) School of Law.
