Supporting Her Justice

 

Her Justice stands with women living in poverty in New York City by providing free legal help to address individual and systemic legal barriers.

 

For women living in poverty, legal services are essential services. At Her Justice, 75% of the women they serve are victims of domestic violence and almost 70% are mothers. The COVID-19 pandemic compounds what was already a dangerous situation for women living with abuse.

 

Despite limited access to the courts, Her Justice lawyers can address many of the legal challenges their clients are facing. Women living with abuse are in need of orders of protection, now more than ever. Mothers are navigating visitation orders while trying to keep their families safe and healthy. Immigrant women who have worked for years to obtain legal status are living in uncertainty as an onslaught of policy changes decide their futures.
